Delta Govt To Enhance Investment-Friendly Environment, Says Ofehe
The Delta State Government, under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is desirous about encouraging foreign direct investment.
Executive Assistant to the Governor on External Relations and Diaspora Affairs, Dr. Sunny Ofehe, stated this while articulating the state’s investment strategy on Arise television show on Sunday night.
Dr Ofehe, underscored the government’s commitment to facilitating diverse investment opportunities, enhancing the Gross Domestic Products (GDP), and augmenting the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.
He expressed the government’s commitment to simplify business procedures and ensure a conducive business environment, adding that it is important to address existing challenges to fully assure investors of security and potential returns on their investments.
Dr. Ofehe stressed the need for competent and knowledgeable individuals within government ministries, parastatals, and agencies to manage and profitably exploit the state’s mineral resources.
He emphasized the need for Nigeria to rekindle the interest of investors and outlined the role of both federal and state governments in these endeavors.
While showcasing his contributions as the Executive Assistant on External Relations and Diaspora Affairs, Dr. Ofehe shed light on his efforts to draw investment to Delta State and motivate Delta natives living overseas to invest or bring in investors to the state.
“We are determined to create an atmosphere that instills confidence in potential investors about our economy and state,” stated Dr. Ofehe.
On the subject of engaging the diaspora, Dr. Ofehe revealed plans for a database to connect Delta indigenes living abroad, saying that the database is aimed to strengthen their identity and inform them of local investment opportunities in the state.
Addressing concerns about the safety and complexities of profit remittance, he stated, “We need to create a conducive environment for foreign investors by ensuring their returns, and promising a swift and effective judicial process in case they face any business hurdles.”
Dr. Ofehe, also the Founder of the Hope for Niger Delta Campaign (HNDC), The Netherlands, reinforced the state governor’s intent to proactively attract these investors.
