…Aiming to empower women in Nigeria’s media industry”

LightRay Media, a leading Nigerian media and communications entity, has announced the “100 Women in Leadership Virtual Summit,” an event designed to celebrate and empower women in the media sector.

This was contained in a statement by Executive Director/Publisher KightRay Media Foundation, Ejiro “Lady E” Umukoro.

She said that the groundbreaking initiative is expected to guide both budding professionals and experienced entrepreneurs towards a successful career trajectory.

According to her, Women in Nigeria have meaningfully contributed to the media landscape, a fact acknowledged in the Nigerian Constitution’s sections 22 and 29 but the challenges unique to women within the media ecosystem often remain unaddressed, impeding their quest for equity, equality, inclusivity, and progression.

The statement said the summit by LightRay Media is a powerful response, offering an unrivaled opportunity for women across the media spectrum.

The statement however noted that the benefits of the summit include building leadership capacity for female reporters across various media, enhancing gender mainstreaming, engaging female experts, advocating for representation, and developing gender policies.

It added that the first 100 registrants would also gain access to an exclusive “Members Only Women in Media Hangout,” providing a platform for networking and problem-solving.

The event would also witness a formal adoption ceremony for a comprehensive workplace policy designed to empower women.

A follow-up Zoom meeting on October 13th would mark the official launch and adoption of the policy, the statement added.

Subsequently, on October 20th, a roundtable discussion with management, key stakeholders, and representatives from various organizations will seek to secure formal adoption, she said.

Umukoro disclosed that LightRay Media has a clear and unyielding dedication to creating an inclusive and thriving media environment where women are celebrated and empowered.
