Delta Guber: Urhobo Monarchs Call For Peace, Security During, After Elections

The Urhobo Traditional Rulers Council, (Ukoko r’ Ivie r’ Urhobo), on Wednesday, called for peace and security during and after the Saturday governorship and state assembly elections.
The traditional rulers, in a statement after its enlarged meeting held at the palace of Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Sideso Abe I, urged all the various actors in the race to uphold the peace accord they signed and ensure that the polls is hitch-free.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting, spokesman of the traditional rulers, the Ovie of Great Idjerhe Kingdom, His Majesty, King Obukohwo Monday Whiskey (JP), Udurhie 1, enjoined all Urhobo’s sons and daughters who are candidates in the elections not to do anything that would heat up the atmosphere during and after the polls.
A communique after the meeting reads: “The leadership of Ukoko r’ Ivie r’ Urhobo comprises of the 24 Urhobo’s Kingdom rose from an enlarged meeting today, Wednesday March 8, 2023, with the following resolution:
“That all our sons and daughters who are active actors in the political system must do so by promoting peace and security in our area during and after the elections.
“That peace and security of our people is paramount and that we’re advising all our actors directly or indirectly involved in the electioneering process to promote peace and security in Delta Central during and after the elections.
“That all the actors should play the game according to the rule and that this meeting was convened under the leadership of High Royal Majesty, Dr Emmanuel Sideso Abe I”.
