BREAKING: Fake EFCC Operatives Arrested In Delta

Published

on

Messers. Prince Allison, George Chisom Onyeweagu, Duke Okoro, Joseph Osinachi, and Onyocha Stanley have been detained by the Delta State Police for allegedly engaging in kidnapping, extortion, and other criminal activities while posing as members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

According to www.bigpenngr.com, the suspects were apprehended in the wake of numerous complaints from the public, particularly from young people, who claimed that EFCC agents frequently broke into their homes at night, arrested them forcibly, and demanded large sums of money.

According to a police investigation, the “END EFCC” protest in Ughelli, which resulted in the burning of over thirteen trucks and the destruction of property, was partially sparked by the syndicate group’s activities.

After the violent protest, the police command claims they did not back down because information gathered suggested they might not be EFCC agents after all.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Friday, said that on November 16, 2022, the Command received another complaint from a victim (name withheld) whose house was stormed at night by the syndicate.

They climbed the fence to enter the compound, broke into his apartment, and forcibly abducted him before taking him away in a white Toyota Hiace bus.

The victim added that when they arrived at the head bridge, which marks the border between the states of Anambra and Delta, they took his phones and other valuables worth three million, seven hundred thousand naira (N3,700,000) from him and made a cash transfer of two million, five hundred thousand naira (N2,500,000), warning him that they would return for him.

Five additional victims came forward to the Command and described how they were robbed of approximately fifteen million naira (#15,000,000).’

It soon became obvious that the actions were those of criminals posing as EFCC agents.

The police spokesman claimed that as a result, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, the commissioner of police, gave the Command Decoy Squad the go-ahead to look into the matter, make sure they are apprehended, and ensure they are held accountable.

In accordance with this order, on November 23, 2022, Commander CP-Decoy ASP Julius Robinson, acting on reliable information, led agents in a sting operation, followed them to their hideout in a hotel (name withheld) in Asaba where they hibernate to plan their next operation, and arrested five suspects.

Prince Allison, age 29, a resident of Port Harcourt, was named as the suspect’s leader. George Chisom Onyeweagu, age 29, a resident of Owerri, is in charge of the POS they use to forcibly withdraw money from their victims’ accounts. Duke Okoro, age 40, a resident of Asaba Delta State, Joseph Osinachi, age 23, a resident of Lagos state and Onyocha Stanley, age 32, a resident of Owerri..

According to Edafe, the suspects have admitted to police detectives conducting the investigation that they have robbed numerous victims in various locations throughout the State.

The suspects allegedly admitted to him that they occasionally kept their victims in hotels for days on end until they were able to extract a large sum of money from them or coerce them into sending money to their mobile POS.

They were captured with their white, fully functional Hummer bus, two locally made EFCC jackets, a POS system, and eight cell phones.

Six of their victims have recognised them as the group that broke into their homes while posing as EFCC agents. The investigation is ongoing.

The CP advised the general public, in particular the youth, to think twice before taking laws into their hands because some situations may be more complicated than they appear. He promises the people of the State that justice will be done and that he will see to it that the offenders are duly brought to justice.
