Police Arrests PDP Guber Aspirant At Venue Of Screening
The Police has arrested a Rivers State Governorship aspirant at the venue of South-South Zonal Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where all governorship aspirant from the zone are converging for screening ahead of the party primaries.
BIGPENNGR.COM gathers that the aspirant, Farah Dagogo was arrested by heavily armed security operatives deployed to the venue on behest of Governor Nyesom Wike.
Recall Governor Wike had in a statement by his media assistant, Kelvin Ebiri, accused Dagogo of masterminding cultists’ invasion of the venue of the screening of Rivers State National and State Assembly aspirants Wednesday in Port Harcourt.
The governor had directed the Police, as a matter of urgency t0 arrest the House of Representatives member, “wherever he is, and must be made to face prosecution.”
But the governorship aspirant, had in a swift response, denied the allegations, rather accusing the governor of trying to dent his reputation in a bid to deny him the Thursday’s screening for the state governorship primaries.
He was supposed to appear before the PDP Governorship Screening Committee chaired by the Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri around 6:pm on his arrival to the venue when armed men swooped on him.
It was learnt that Dagogo, who represents Degema-Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representative, was whisked away in a patrol van labeled, ‘Operation C4i-027’ by policemen drafted to the scene.
A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt had earlier on Thursday remanded 15 persons to a correctional center over the Rivers PDP Secretariat alleged invasion by cultist in which Dagogo is being accused of mastermind and had also been arrested for.
Meanwhile, the South South governorship aspirants screening opened in Port Harcourt under tight security with Committee Chairman and Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri assuring aspirant of a transparent process.
The governor, however warned aspirants that as senior citizens of the party, state and country at large, they were expected to comport themselves during the screening and stay away from any act capable of bringing the name of the party into disrepute.
