‘Yahoo Boy’ Buys Gun From Armed Robber To Exert Revenge From Swindlers

A suspected internet fraudster popularly known as ‘yahoo Boy’ has confessed to how he bought a double barrel pistol from a convicted armed robber to exert revenge on whoever tries to swindle him of his ill gotten money.

The suspect simply identified as Daniel Anikpe was apprehended alongside one Chikeluba James Ani by the Patrol team from Eagle Net Special Squad of the Delta State Police Command on January 8, 2022, according to the Command Public Relation Officer DSP Bright Edafe.

The suspects were picked up during a stop and search duty by the patrol team at Maryam Babangida Junction in Asaba, the state capital.

DSP Edafe who gave details of the incident on Tuesday, said, “on January  8, 2022 at about 2230hrs, Patrol team from Eagle Net Special Squad while on stop and search duty at Maryam Babangida Junction in Asaba, intercepted a Toyota Camry car, black in colour with Reg. No. ABH 911 GW with two male occupants namely Daniel Anikpe “M” age 27Yrs and Chikeluba James Ani “M” age 27Yrs both residing at Ulo line shop off Asaba –Ibusa road”.

He said that during a painstaking search on the suspects’ vehicle, one locally made double barrel pistol, three live cartridges, one jack knife, two wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp were found.

One Samsung Galaxy, one Iphone, two black berets, a driver’s license, one GT bank ATM card, one hand chain and five finger rings were also recovered from the vehicle.

DSP Edafe, further disclosed that investigation later revealed that the suspects are into internet fraud.

“One of the Suspects Daniel Anikpe admitted that he got the gun about eight months ago from his friend named Tata (surname unknown) who is currently in Ogwashi-uku prison for an offence of armed robbery”.

The gun was bought at a cost of twenty-five thousand naira(N25,000)”, one of the suspect, Daniel confessed, according to the police image maker.

“He said in the course of his Cyber crime activities, issues bordering on sharing formula usually emanates with his partners in crime, hence he bought the gun to exert revenge on whoever tries to swindle him of his ill gotten money”.

The police spokesman said that investigation is ongoing in the matter.
