Gov. Masari Presents N340.9bn 2022 Budget For Katsina State

 Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State has presented a budget of N340 billion for 2022 to the state House of Assembly for approval..


Presenting the budget tagged budget of Economic Resilience, Masari said it was higher than the 2020 figure by N48 billion.


He said that the budget was made up of N102 billion recurrent expenditure, representing 30.40 per cent and N238 billion capital expenditure, representing 69.85 per cent.
“The 2022 budget is designed to complete ongoing projects and initiate other capital projects that can be completed within the life of this administration.
“The total amount projected to finance the 2022 budget is N175 billion which comprises of N61billion Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) from the State Board of Internal Revenue and other MDAs.
“The revenue receivable through the federation account is estimated at N100 billion with an opening balance of N12.5billion.
“It is important to note that the recurrent revenue increased by 8.6 per cent over that of the 2021 revised budget,” Masari said.
He said that the 2022 recurrent expenditure has also increased by 8.63 per cent which indicated that in real terms the revenue would increase by about 8.60 per cent over that of 2021.
Masari said that the focus of his administration was premised on programmes, projects and policies to be implemented under education, health, water resources, agriculture, environment, works, housing and transportation sectors.
“As a result therefore, the 2022 budget has provided adequate allocation of funds to the priority sectors of government.
“Education N29 billion (12.38 per cent), Health N30 billion(12.86 per cent), Water Resource N41 billion (17.23 per cent).

“Agriculture N26 billion (11.01 per cent), Works N27 billion ( 11.35 per cent), and Environment N33 billion (13.90 per cent),” he said.

In his response, the Speaker, Alhaji Tasi’u Maigari promised speedy passage of the budget before the end of 2021.
