Scores of All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta, on Saturday dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former APC loyalists who renounced their membership of the party were received in Ogbeowele, Ibusa, by the Delta North Chairman of PDP, Chief Moses Iduh and other leaders of the PDP in the area.

Addressing the APC decampees, Iduh assured them of equal opportunities in PDP and admonished them to work faithfully for the party as the umbrella was big enough to accommodate everyone.

He urged PDP faithful in the area to accommodate the new entrants and work for the overall interest of the people.

Similarly, Chairman of PDP in Oshimili North, Chief Nduka Ogwude, assured the new members of equal treatment, saying that whatever was due any PDP member would get to them “because there is no marginalisation in PDP”.

Also speaking, Chairman, Oshimili North Local Government Council, Mr Innocent Esewezie, thanked the decampees and said that they had taken the right step by joining the umbrella party.

According to him, God has answered the prayers of the people of Oshimili North by giving us a Governor like Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

“The PDP in Oshimili North is now very sweet because the prayers of the people have been answered.

“Gone are the days when everyone would work for the party and only one person would reap the benefits,” Esewezie said.

Responding on behalf of the decampees, former APC and Coordinator in Ward 7, Charles Nwankwo, said their decision to join PDP was informed by the sterling leadership qualities of Governor Okowa and his outstanding accomplishments in the development of the state.

Nwankwo decried the number of unscrupulous members that have joined the APC recently, identifying them as those who have held the party in bondage in the past.

“The reason many of us refused to join PDP in the past was because of many of those who are resigning from the party now,” he said.

He enjoined other members of APC to join the winning party because God has cleansed the PDP of those dragging it back.
