A viral video of Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanemere, popularly known as Odumeje lifting the monstrance used to hold a “blessed sacrament” during a “Catholic church” event in Delta state has sparked outrage on Nigerian social media.

BIGPENNGR reports the video shared in Instagram account of popular blogger, lindaikejiblog, depicts a man dressed like a Catholic priest, with an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary on his chasuble, blessing the “blessed sacrament” before Odumeje lifted it up, an act that is considered sacred in the Catholic Church and can only be performed by an ordained priest.

Odumeje is also seen clad in the humeral veil, a vestment worn by priests before lifting the monstrance.

Though the event is held in a church located at Hall of Celebration, Okpanam road before Police Headquarters in Delta state called the “Orthodox Catholic Church”, report says Roman Catholics are upset and are accusing Odumeje of mimicking and abusing an act that Catholics hold sacred.
