Isoko Youth Assembly Issues Fresh Ultimatum Over NDDC

The leadership of Isoko Youth Assembly (IYA) Worldwide have issued a fresh seven day ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio to constitute the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

BIGPENNGR reports this is coming barely few days after former Niger Delta ex-militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo popularly known as Tompolo also gave the Buhari administration seven days ultimatum over NDDC.

Addressing journalists at a news conference in Warri, the interim President of IYA, Comrade Charles Mukoro, said that the appointment of interim management committee and subsequently a sole administrator have negatively effected the commission.

“It is obvious that the commission whose vision was to offer a lasting solution to the socio-economic difficulties of the Niger-Delta region, and mission is keyed to facilitate the rapid, even and sustainable development of the Niger Delta into a region that is economically prosperous, socially stable, ecologically regenerative and politically peaceful has been hijacked by some selfish cabal.

“We should also be conversant to the fact that, one of the interior motives why the board of NDDC is yet to be constituted is highly based on political actors siphoning and embezzling the huge accruing funds from the federal government to the coffer of the board.

“The purpose of the interim committee and the forensic audit committee also seems to have been defeated and never embracing ending facade. The interim committee failed the expectations of the people woefully, the integrity of the committee was even called to question by the senate”, the youth leader said.

“This has created a necessity for us as Niger-Deltan Youths to agitate that we should go back to the law establishing the Commission, obey same and we implore President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of the Niger-Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio to constitute a governing board of the NDDC in accordance with the law.

“Failure to comply with this gentleman warning signal will leave us with no other choice than to form alliance to work in synergy with other ethnic nationality youth body in the Niger-Delta region for more watertight activism for the actualization of this singular struggle and more to come for, Isoko Youth Assembly – IYA believes that, INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL”.
