Forensic Audit

The Traditional Rulers of Oil Producing Communities of Nigeria, TROMPCON, Delta state chapter, has thrown its weight behind the ongoing forensic audit in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The monarchs, however urged president Muhammadu Buhari to appoint a substantive chairman and Managing director for the commission to reduce tension in the region.

Arising from an emergency meeting on Thursday, the group, in a statement signed by its chairman, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Sideso Abe I, Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, and secretary, HRM Johnson Angalabiri, the Ebenanaowei of Kumbowei Kingdom, said that TROMPCON sincerely and wholeheartedly supports the intention of the Federal Government to carry out forensic audit of the books of the NDDC in the past 20 years.

“That TROMPCON, Delta State chapter believed that Mr President should inaugurate the already screened and confirmed board of the NDDC to reduce tension in the rich oil/gas producing region of the country”.

The traditional rulers, also called on the federal government to expediate action on the Benin Federal Highway, Amukpe to Ewu Federal Highway, Agbor-Effurun Federal Highway as well as the much-publicised abandoned East West Road project before the rainy seasons sets in.

They also expressed concern over the inactive state of the Osubi Airport and appealed to the federal government to prevail on the Minister of Aviation to bring the airport back on stream without further delay.

TROMPCON, Delta State chapter appeal to the federal government to critically look into the issue of 10% equity share being advocated for by the people of the oil and gas producing communities by using proper dialogue mechanism and not forcefully imposing 2% equity share on the people of the oil and gas producing communities”, the statement further reads.
