Senate Clears Dongban-Mensem As Appeal Court President

Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, has been confirmed for appointment as the President of the Court of Appeal.

The Senate confirmed her nomination on Thursday after her name was sent in by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.

This comes after she was screened by the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters where her documents were forwarded to by Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

Presenting the report of the Committee at plenary on Thursday, its Chairman, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, told the lawmakers that Justice Dongban-Mensem has the capacity to transform the Judiciary.

All members of the Committee supported her nomination and there was no petition against her.
