Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, Minority leader of the House of Representatives has commended Nigerian workers for their commitment and sacrifices towards the stability and development of the nation, despite the challenges that confront them in the line of duty.

Elumelu, in a congratulatory message on Workers’ Day celebration on Friday, described the workers “as the critical drivers of our national development, whose efforts and contributions towards the success of the Nigerian project remain inestimable”.

He emphasized that the “Minority Caucus and indeed all Nigerians enormously appreciate the sacrifices of the Nigerians workers particularly, at this time when those in the health and other essential services are risking their lives on the front line to protect the nation from the spread and impact of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

The Minority leader described the theme of this year’s Workers’ Day celebrations; “STOP THE PANDEMIC”, as apt and further portrays the selflessness and patriotism of the workers in the fight against the pandemic.

According to him, “the minority caucus is not unmindful of the challenges being faced by the workers, particularly at this time and will continue to ensure that no effort is spared to guarantee their welfare, safety, conducive working conditions as well as their health needs, in consonance with globally accepted standards.

“As representatives of the people, we will continue to appreciate the contributions of our workers, especially those at the front line, in the fight against the Covid-19 Pandemic. You have indeed demonstrated courage, commitment and unparalleled acts of heroism which would continue to be celebrated even by generation yet unborn.
