Gov Masari Lockdown Buhari’s Council Area After 3 Tested Positive To COVID-19

Aminu Bello Masari, Governor of Katsina State on Friday lock down the local government council of President Muhammadu Buhari after three positive cases of coronavirus were recorded in Daura Council area.
The Governor told newsmen that the measures became urgent following the recording of an index case from Daura who later died.
According to him, the total lock down followed the positive status of the three persons who were immediate family members of late Dr. Aliyu Yakubu, the state index case who died recently including his wife and two of his children.
“Daura and its environs would be totally locked down from tomorrow, the committee is already in place to identify medical and food stores that will be opened within the period of lock down’’.
‘’A meeting held with security Agencies, Emergency Response Committee under the Deputy Governor and other stakeholders deliberated on the steps to be taken to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the state’’.
He, however exempted three patent chemists and medicine stores, three grains stores and grocery stores from the lockdown in Daura.
The governor’s imposed total lockdown will commence Saturday, April 11 from 7am.
BIGPEN recalls that a private medical doctor of Kogi State origin, who is based in Daura, died from coronavirus infection three days ago.
The late doctor was said to have returned to Daura from Kogi and Lagos states to continue his practice in Katsina before his death at the Airforce Reference Hospital in Daura where he took himself for treatment after coming down with the virus symptoms.
