APC Delta Central Chair Disowns Defectors, Says “They Were Members Of PPA, Not APC”

Olorogun Adelabu Ejiroghene Bodjor, chairman of Delta Central chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), says some politicians who recently joined the PDP in the state claiming they are members of the APC, are only using the name of his party to make themselves relevant.

Bodjor, a lawyer said the decampees who purportedly claimed to be members of APC in Agbarha Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area, are mere ” impostors” who just want to deceived the PDP to make themselves relevant.

BIGPEN understands a number of some defectors from Agbarha Otor ward, had recently paid a visit to the Senior Political Adviser to the Delta State governor, Mr. Funkekeme Solomon in Asaba, claiming that they defected from the APC to the PDP.

But reacting to the claims, the APC State Vice chairman and chairman of Delta Central chapter of the party, Olorogun Bodjor, declared such link to the party by those who are searching for relevance in PDP, as not only gross impersonation, but a grand deceit of the public.

According to Bodjor, the leader of the decampees, Chief Ekure Felix’s last political affiliation was with the Peoples Progressive Alliance, PPA where “he laboured unsuccessfully to deliver the governorship candidate of that party, Mr. Obire in the 2019 governorship election in the state”.

He noted that their claims to APC was just to add value to their political relevance for them to be accepted and given priority by the PDP, adding that at no time, the so-called decampees were members of the national party, APC.

“These people were not members of the APC at any given time. They were all members of the PPA and they worked with that party’s governorship candidate, Mr. Obire. When performed abysmally poor in the 2019 governorship election, Chief Ekure and his cohorts started shopping for a party that will accept them.

“They therefore picked PDP as their destination. And in doing that they also decided to mischievously add value to their political relevance by claiming to be decamping from the APC which, for all intent and purposes was gross impersonation and public deceit.”

Olorogun Bodjor therefore urged the discerning public and especially politicians to disregard such claims by the so-called decampees as former members of the APC.

He noted that the people were free to associate with any political group of their choice in line with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, but flayed their claim that they were on a political sojourn from the APC.

According to the Delta Central APC chairman, the party is having a good time welcoming flood of new members associating with the party, adding that it was absurd for a handful of persons to claim they were moving against the current political tide.

“As a party, the APC in the state has been having a swell time welcoming and receiving into its fold many members of some other parties and, indeed new members from the public who are eager to associate with the national winning party as the dividends of democracy keeps pouring in for the members”, Bodjor said.
