Deputy Commissioner Of Police Killed In Shi’ite/Police Clash In Abuja

A Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operation, DCP Umar Usman was shot dead Monday as members of members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as the Shi’ites clashed with the anti- riot police officers from the Force headquarters in Abuja.

Shi’ites had continued their protest which started some months ago over the federal government refusal to release their spiritual leader, Sheik Ibraheem El Zakzaky.

According to report BIGPEN Online sourced from PRNigeria on Monday, the unending protest claimed DCP Umar who was killed by the protesters while trying to prevent the hostile action of destruction of property at the axis of the federal secretariat and three arms zone.

The report says consequent of the violence, security was beefed up at the Force headquarters to prevent reprisal attacks over the arrest of scores of the protesters who are demanding the release of the spiritual sect leader, Sheik Ibraheem El Zakzaky.
