Ex-PDP Chair, One Other Arrested Over Murder Of 18 Yrs Old Girl In Delta

Dr Kings Okpako, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ethiope East Chapter Local Government Chairman and one other have been arrested in connection to the alleged murder of a 18 years old girl in Abraka, Delta State.

The suspects were arrested by a team of police led by the Abraka Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr Hassan Jimoh following earlier arrest of the boyfriend of the victim who has since been on the run.

The said Okpako who was arrested alongside the male acquaintance of the deceased, is a prominent Abraka Chief, herbal medicine seller and politician.

BIGPEN Online had reported that the deceased girl simply identified as Favour Ogheneyenrohwo Sunday, was a fashion designer apprentice in Abraka and a native of Ughere community in Ethiope East LGA.

She was allegedly strangulated to death as there were mark of violent on her neck. It was also gathered that the deceased pubic hair was shaved off by her suspected killers after she was murdered on 18th of June 2019.

Confirming the arrest of the suspects in a statement, State Police Public Relations Officer,  DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said, “On the 18th of June 2019, a sack bag containing a lifeless body of a teenage girl of about 18yrs old was found in a heap of dust bin in Abraka.

“On inspection of the corpse by the Police marks of violence were obvious on the deceased neck which implied she could have been killed by unknown person or persons.

“Subsequently, in the course of Police investigation, the deceased male friend one Henry Ikechukwu, aged 32yrs old who was last seen with the deceased on 17th of June, 2019 and had been on the run since the incident, was tracked down and arrested on 28th  of June, 2019.

“On interrogation, he confessed to have invited the deceased for an outing on 17th of June, 2019, from where he lured her and handed her over to a prominent chief in the same Abraka community, who gave him the assignment to get the deceased for him.

“The said chief has also been arrested and the two suspects are presently in Police custody pending investigation. They will soon appear in court immediately after the completion of the ongoing Police investigation”, the statement added.
