Delta Assembly Member, Ojo Hails Okowa For Signing Anti-quackery Bill Into Law

Dr. Alphonsus Ojo, member representing Ukwuani State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly has commended Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for signing the Bill to Regulate the Registration, Establishment, Operations, Conduct, Monitoring and Inspection of Private Health Care Facilities in Delta State and Other Matters Incidental Thereto into Law.
The bill which was sponsored by Dr. Ojo, is the only private member sponsored bill signed into law by the Governor and seeks to reduce incidences of quackery in the health sector.
While expressing appreciation to the Governor for signing the bill into Law, Ojo stated that with the coming of the Law, it will be easier to effectively monitor and regulate the health sector which is a critical area of development for any state.
According to the lawmaker, an unregulated or poorly regulated critical sector as the health sector has dire implications for the health of the people of the state noting that health is wealth and the health of Deltans will no longer be toyed with, hence the signing of the Bill into Law.
The lawmaker however thanked the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori as well as his colleagues who collectively supported the Bill, noting that their inputs, advise and review of the bill made the final document, a workable Law.
