Whistleblowers Ask Court To Restrain Senate From Confirming Emefiele As CBN Governor

The George Uboh Whistleblowers Network ( GUWN) has filed a lawsuit in the Federal High Court Abuja, asking the court to restrain the Senate from confirming Godwin Emefiele as CBN Governor.
This is coming barely few days after President Muhammadu Buhari wrote to the Senate to confirm the nomination of Emefiele for a second term as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
GUWN chairman, Dr. George Uboh in the lawsuit is asking the court to stop the confirmation of Emefiele over an alleged ‘disappearance’ of $2.5 billion from federal government coffers of which GUWN had indicted Emefiele.
In a suit no FHC/ ABJ/CS/505/2019 in the matter of George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN) V. Godwin Emefiele, Senate et al filed Friday, May 10, 2019, GUWN is asking the court to restrain the Senate from confirming Godwin Emefiele as CBN Governor ( 2nd tenure) until the court resolves GUWN V. Emefiele, case no. FHC/ABJ/CS/419/2019, in which GUWN alleges that $2.5 Billion USD disappeared under Emefiele’s watch.
In the court documents seen by BIGPEN ONLINE, GUWN is asking that Emefiele refund the $2.5 Billion USD, and that Emefiele should be declared not fit to hold public office.
George Uboh argued that if the Senate can decline to confirm EFCC’s boss, Ibrahim Magu based on a security report, a fortiori, the senate must decline to confirm Emefiele “for far more egregious allegations”.
