How Gunmen Abducted Jonathan, University Don In Separate Incidents

Unknown gunmen on Sunday abducted a Permanent Secretary in Taraba State, same day a group of bandit also seized a lecturer of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife along Ife/Ibadan expressway.
The Permanent Secretary simply identified as Mrs. Susana Jonathan of the Ministry of Water Resources was allegedly abducted from her home at ATC in Jalingo, the state capital, at about 2:17am, residents told reporters.
This is coming barely five days after the Deputy Registrar of the Taraba State University, Jalingo, Mr. Sanusi Sa’ad, was kidnapped in the university’s quarters, a few meters from the house of the abducted permanent secretary.
Residents said the gunmen stormed the house and shot sporadically into the air before taking her away to an unknown destination.
The Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, David Misal, a Deputy Superintended of Police (DSP), said no complaint had been lodged from Mrs Jonathan’s family.
In a separate incident, unknown gunmen Sunday kidnapped a lecturer of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife along Ife/Ibadan expressway.
It was gathered that the lecturer, simply identified as Prof Adegbehingbe, was abducted near Ikire, few minutes to 9pm while traveling to Ife.
Reports say several vehicles that were moving along the route when the incident happened, it was further learned, had to stop because the men wielding sophisticated weapons, partially blocked the road.
Two people were said to be in the vehicle in which the lecturer was abducted, while the other passenger was said to be his wife.
Director of Media, Ooni of Ife Palace, Moses Olafare, said he received a call from an anonymous caller when it was discovered the kidnap victim works in Obafemi Awolowo University.
Olafare said he also spoke to the wife of Prof Adegbehingbe while she was in a police station in Apomu to report the matter.
