Utomi Appoints Transition Working C’ttee In Delta, To Constitute Shadow Cabinet May 29

Patrick Okedinachi Utomi, professor of political economy and management expert who is largely known as Pat Utomi, has named a 7-man Transition Working Committee to serve as a shadow policy watch group ad interim in Delta State.

Utomi, who is the All Progressive Congress, APC governorship candidate for the Cyril Abeye Ogodo-led faction of the party said that  the working group is to select and screen the members of the shadow team to be formally unveiled on May 29.

It would be recalled that BIGPEN ONLINE had earlier reported that Utomi was apparently planning a ‘parallel government’ in Delta State and intended inaugurating his shadow cabinet in April.

According to the earlier report, Utomi team would give the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led government a firece opposition that would be devoid of personal attack even as it said the APC factional governorship candidate alluded to moves to realign with the Okowa-led government as his shadow cabinet to be constituted would not go personal in its mandate but would be critical to how Delta can be better run in the interest of the people.

The statement issued on Wednesday morning reads in full: “In furtherance of the resolve by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta state under the Leadership of Olorogun Germanson Oghenetega Emerhor, OON and the Chairmanship of Chief Cyril Abeye Ogodo to confidently retrieve its stolen right to offer good governance to the good people of Delta State, a wide spread consultation process has resulted in the approval for the governorship candidate of the party, Professor Patrick Okedinachi to Utomi to set up a Transition Working Committee. The seven membered committee is hereby announced:

The Price of Liberty is Eternal Vigilance. That truism finds teeth in how poorly governed our dear state has been for a generation. Poor governance has been largely the result of weak opposition and challenged citizenship.

To ensure a reversal of this misfortune we of the PUSH and the APCs Utomi Gubernatorial team, in collaboration with Deltans of goodwill, will inaugurate a Policy watch group to keep government accountable to the people on Policy matters and on the use of Financial Resources of the people in pursuit of the business of the security and welfare of the people.

Using a shadow set of policies and the Freedom of Information Act to gain access to the deployment of State revenues the policy watch group will work sacrificially to ensure just, inclusive, and quality governance in the interest of the people of Delta.

I am pleased to announce that a working group to select and screen the members of the shadow team to be formally unveiled onMay 29.

Until the shadow team to support me is formally unveiled on May 29th this Transition Working Group will serve as as a shadow policy watch group ad interim.

Members of the group include the Hon Dr Emibra Agbeotu, Chief Malachi Orode, Mr Slim Overejolo, Mr Iwemdi Nwaham, Prince Maikpobi Okareme, Mrs D E Ajobena-Ojo and Ms Babara Odoh.
