Pipeline Surveillance: Delta Youths Hail Ocean Marine For Community Driven Approach

Youth leaders from Delta State have commended Ocean Marine Services Nigeria Limited for adopt a community base driven approach for effective protection of critical oil facilities in the Niger Delta region.
The youth leaders representing Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Isoko and Anioma nations made the commendation during an interactive session with some community leaders and representatives of Ocean Marine Solutions in Warri on Tuesday the 16th of April, 2019 in Warri, Delta State.
The ethnic youth leaders recommended the community base approach of Ocean marine to the Federal government to adopt as a Niger Delta region wide mechanism so as to give the community stakeholdership and sense of belonging in the activities of oil multinationals in the region.
The youth leaders who spoke at the meeting include Eric Omare, President, IYC, Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, President, INYC, Ovie Umuakpo, President, INYA, Festus Oviesiri, President, UYC, Emeke Asiwe, Ika and Benjamin Onwubolou, Ndokwa.
While commending Ocean marine for creating the opportunity for interaction with youth leaders across the State, they also call on the surveillance company to create a mechanism to go round the different oil bearing and impacted communities to carry out sensitization programme on the danger of vandalization of oil facilities especially the environmental hazards involve.
The youth leaders further stated that the level of professionalism in terms of critical stakeholders/communities leaders engagement; division of labor along the right of way and number of youths engagement is unprecedented in the history of surveillance contracts in Nigeria hence,we recommend this as a model going forward in all future engagements in this regard.
