Ahead the Saturday’s governorship and State Assembly elections, Governor of Delta State and PDP Governorship Candidate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has sent a ‘thank you’ letter to Deltans for supporting him through his first four years and appealing for reelection for another four years term.

BIGPEN ONLINE reports that Okowa’s letter is coming following boiling tensions among Deltans that the elections may be characterised by violence and rigging. Both PDP and APC, the two leading political party in the state have been on each other jugular with accusations and counter accusations of possible manipulation of the ballots.

Okowa in his letter, appealed to Deltans to reelect him for a second term of office,  saying “this letter, to update you on the progress recorded so far, in fulfilment of the campaign promises which i made to you about 4 years ago”.

The letter is reproduced below:

H.E. Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa Writes Deltans…

My Dear Fellow Deltan

My name is Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa and by the grace of God, and with your support, I am the Governor of Delta State of Nigeria.

2. Permit me to begin by expressing my appreciation to you once again, for entrusting me with the leadership of our beloved state. Your continued prayers have sustained and energized me to lead efforts geared at taking our Dear State to desirable heights of development.

3. I wish, by this letter, to update you on the progress recorded so far, in fulfilment of the campaign promises which I made to you about 4 years ago. You are a witness to milestone developmental projects scattered across the state in fulfilment of my administration’s “smart” agenda. In the Health Sector, Delta is the first state to launch Universal Health coverage to it’s citizens, more than 486, 000 persons are already enrolled into the scheme. Primary healthcare centres, general and central hospitals have been upgraded and fully equipped while the Delta State University Teaching Hospital has been equipped with state of the art medical equipments. Road Projects: More than 360 roads projects already executed and still counting. Education: More than 4, 750 classrooms renovated\constructed and still counting, 6 Technical Colleges rehabilitated and equipped to produce graduates with entrepreneurial and employability skills. Skill Acquisition: More than 21,000 persons trained and established in their choice enterprise. Job Creation: More than 100.000 private sector jobs created through programmes and activities of MDA’S. Housing: Establishment of “owner occupier” housing scheme at very affordable rates for junior staff. Staff Welfare: More than 10,500 teaching and non teaching staff promoted since May 29th, 2015, prompt payment of salaries to public servants in the state and payment of promotion arrears etc. Agriculture: Agric sector transformation through cluster farming. Few days ago we flagged off an agricultural support programme where farm inputs were distributed to various farmers across the state to help them develop their farms for improved output. However, what is left to be done in my plans for our state transformation is much more than what has been achieved.

4. With your patriotic support and sacrifice, we have managed, in almost 4 years, to record laudable accomplishments in our united march towards a better delta state. I celebrate and share the joy of this success with you, and will continue to count on you and your family as partners in progress. And together, we will do more for our beloved Delta State.

5. As we face yet another election year, I humbly beseech you to renew and recharge my mandate for another 4 years with your vote come this saturday the 9th of March, 2019 to enable “You and I” make more perfect that which we have started.

6. God bless you and God bless Delta State of Nigeria.

Signed:
