A security aide of Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa who was caught on video tape violently attacking a woman has been stripped of his chieftaincy title.

The aide identified as Friday Eluro was earlier on Friday sacked by Governor Okowa after the video gone viral.

In a statement personally signed by the traditional ruler, Obi of Owa, HRM (Dr.) E. O. Efeizomor and made available to BIGPEN ONLINE, the monarch announced the withdrawal of the “Onyewebudan son of Owa” chieftaincy title from the said Eluro.

The statement reads: “My attention has been drawn to the circulating video recording, evidencing the unjustifiable dehumanizing act of Chief of Owa Kingdom named as “Mr Friday Eluro” known as “Onye Webudan son of Owa” on a helpless woman within the precincts of Owa Kingdom by Owa community council.

“Sequel to the above, I call on all security agencies to act switfly, in a bid to restore the confidence and human dignity of the said woman.

“The chieftaincy title of “Onye Webudan son of Owa” is hereby withdrawn from “Mr Friday Eluro” with immediate effect. All customary privileges attached to the chieftaincy title to hereby withdrawn”.

BIGPEN ONLINE recalls that Governor Okowa while condemning the dastardly act in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, frowned at the unwarranted assault on a woman especially from an appointee of government who ought to ensure that rule of law is observed in all situations.

“Governor Okowa having watched the video of the assault on the woman has directed that the appointment of Mr Friday Eluro as Security Aide be terminated forthwith to serve as deterrent to others”, the Governor said.

In the said video, the woman was seen been beaten with clubs and various objects by Owa youths including the sacked Governor’s aide who was personally flogging the woman with piece of wood after she was stripped naked and tied both legs and hands.

The attack on the woman which have been widely condemned in and outside the state, took place amidst claims that the said woman ‘insulted the said Eluro and had campaigned against Okowa’, said an angry residents who witness the incident.
