FG Okays N30,000 As Minimum Wage, Asks States Not To Pay Less Than N27,000

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has finally agreed to pay N30,000 Minimum Wage for federal workers.

The resolution was reached at the National Council of State meeting which was presided over by President Buhari.

However, the Council directed states and private sector to pay what they can afford but it must not less than N27,000.

The NCS also agreed that the Federal Government should by Wednesday forward the minimum wage bill to the National Assembly for consideration.

BigPen Online gathered that the council gave the approval at its first meeting of the year which was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Olusola Saraki, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Goodluck Jonathan, Abdulsalami Abubakar and the former Head of the Interim Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, among others.
