Panic In Gbaramatu As Military Fighter Jet Flies Over Houses

Barely few weeks to the nation’s general elections, a military fighter jet was on Sunday reportedly sighted rovering over riverine communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State.
It was learnt that the presence of the military jet has triggered panic and fear of uncertainty in Oporoza, the country home of Tompolo, a Niger Delta former militants leader.
Local sources told BigPen Online that the jet was sighted around 4:45pm hovering over the communities for reasons yet to be fathom.
Multiple sources said the jet has been combing the area in a “war-like manner” when there was no threat to oil facilities.
Spokesman of the Joint Task Force, Major Ibrahim Abdullahi didn’t respond to enquiries when contacted but spokesperson of Gbaramatu Traditional Council, Chief Godspower Gbenekama confirmed the development.
He said that residents were surprise about the presence of military jet with armed soldiers barely few weeks to the nation’s general elections.
Gbenekama said anything that would instill panic and scare his people from participating in the electioneering process should not be introduce now, saying there is no threat to pipelines and oil facilities to warrant presence of additional military force.
“There is no story of kidnapping or pipeline vandalising. There is no threat to oil facilities to warrant such. We already have house boats and a handful of military men around us so why are they bring military fighters jet as if we are at war here, Gbenekama queried.
He called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State to prevail on the military echelon to call the army in charge of Warri to order, saying any attempt to intimidate and disenfranchise the people wouldn’t be tolerated.
Gbaramatu is militarize by gunboats, house boats quartered by soldiers who reportedly force residents to raise their hands up whenever they passes through the river channels.
