Delta 2019 Elections: Urhobo Youths Vow To Resist Proponents Of Violence

Published

on

As the nation prepare for the 2019 general elections, a group of youths in Delta State under the auspices of Delta Central Equity Group (DCEG) have vowed to resist those planning to cause violence in Delta State during or after the election.

Convener of the group, Hon. Morris Idiovwa in a statement obtained by BigPen Online on Sunday, said that plans by opposition party to plunge the state into violence in order to create room for rigging would meet stiff resistance.

The statement reads in full: “Our message to the opposition is simple; Urhobo youths will not allow peace be truncated in Delta state  because of elections. We shall stand against any plot and plotters of chaos in our state.

We have good intels on their plans, working with their national party chairman to hail the state into crisis so that they easily perfect their rigging and fraud, but that will never happen. All Urhobo youths are currently being sensitised and preparing to resist their plans to plunge Delta into crisis because of their selfish interest.

We have details of a plot by the APC to plunge Delta Central into crisis during the election as a precursor for the INEC to declare the election inconclusive and call for a rerun. We will like to warn them and their strategists to desist from such plots, this is niether Osun nor Ekiti. They will be met with stiff resistance as no son of Delta Central is ready to lose his life for any selfish politician. Equity must be allowed to thrive.

Like we said at the inauguration of the Delta Central Equity Group (DCEG), we are of the opinion and interest that all contestants should come out to contest their offices of choice without any drama or use of dirty tactics, much less violence and chaos.

Our position still remains that all parts of Delta are equal stakeholders in ‘Project Delta’, as such the Delta North candidate, being His Excellency, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, be backed by all regions of our state to continue his works as governor of our state by ensuring to vote him again at the polls next month.

We hold no ill-feeling against any one, but we shall stiffly resist any politician or political party that think it can use violence to rob our people of their franchise. We shall meet them with whatever they come with. A word should be enough for the wise”.
