APC Clears Great Ogboru, Tonye Cole, 22 others As Governorship Candidates

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has cleared
24 governorship candidates to run the next year’s general elections under its platform.

Among the governorship candidates cleared is Chief Great Ogboru for Delta State, Tonye Cole (Rivers State) and Prince Dapo Abiodun for Ogun state.

Report says the clearance of Abiodun is a major blow to Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who supports Abdulkabir Akinlade, a member of the House of Representatives.

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) at its meeting held on Thursday, did not recognise the factional governorship primaries that produced Senator Magnus Abe in Rivers and Pat Utomi in Delta States.

APC spokesman, Yekini Nabena in a statement Friday said the candidates were approved at Thursday’s meeting of the NWC in Abuja.

Nabena said the party had ratified the reports of the various Electoral Committees and adopted the 24 men as governorship candidates of the APC for the forthcoming general elections.
