We Won’t Allow Buhari Govt To Harrass, Intimidate Clark, IYC Vows

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide, says it would resist any further intimidation or harassment of Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark by agents of the Federal Government.

IYC President, Eric Omare stated this in a statement on Wednesday in condemnation of the invasion of the Abuja residence of elder statesman on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 by men of the Nigeria Police Force.

“The invasion of Chief Clark’s residence in the guise of looking for arms and ammunitions clearly shows that Nigeria is descending towards full blown dictatorship under President Buhari.

“We completely disagree with the reason adduced for the invasion which is suspicion of stockpiling arms and ammunitions from the Niger Delta region”.

The statement said that it is extremely ridiculous for any security agency worth its salt to think that Chief Clark at the age of 91 years would stockpile arms and ammunitions in his house.

“The IYC is convinced that the real reason for the invasion is to intimidate Chief Clark so as to stop him from hosting southern and middle belt leaders to speak against the killings in different parts of the country and the anti-democratic actions of the Buhari administration.

“Therefore, the IYC call on Chief Clark and other leaders of the south and middle belt not to be intimidated by the antics of the security agencies, but continue to speak truth to power. To the state agencies of oppression, we wish to warn them to desist from further harassment of Chief E. K. Clark.

“Any further intimidation or harassment of Chief Clark would be resisted by Niger Delta youths. We would not sit down and allow Chief Clark, who is the Niger Delta leader to be harassed when the Emirs and other leaders of the north are given their due respect”, the statement read.
