Police Restricts Movement In Two Delta LGAs From 6am-3pm Over Tomorrow’s Rerun Council Polls

The Delta State Police Command has ordered the restriction of vehicular movement in Ughelli North and Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta state from 6am to 3pm.

Recall that DSIEC had rescheduled the elections of the two local government council over violence which marred the electoral exercise in the area.

The decision has been taken in the overall interest of peace and safety before, during and after the elections, State Police spokesman, Andrew Aniamaka said in a statement on Monday.

While regretting the inconveniences the restriction order might cause commuters using the affected routes, he said adding that the Command enjoins them to take alternative routes.

He also call on politicians and their supporters in the areas to conduct themselves peacefully as anyone whose action constitutes security threat will be decisively dealt with according to the law.

The Command assures the electorates in the affected areas that adequate security mechanism has been put in place to guarantee their safety as they go out to exercise their franchise.
