An Area Court of Justice sitting in Mpape, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital has granted police prayers seeking to remand Tim Elombah, the Editor of online news platform,  elombah.com in prison custody.

Recalls that the police had approached the court seeking an order to remand Tim in prison custody for a period of fourteen (14) days pending the completion of investigation and filing a former charge against him.

But the judge at the Grade 1 Area Court, only granted seven (7) days to the police and adjourned sitting till January 9, 2018.

ALEDEH had reported that the  elombah.com Editor was arrested alongside his brothers from their family house in Edoji-Uruagu Nnewi, Anambra State, Eastern Nigeria in the wee hours of New Year’s day.

The online Editor was arrested over an opinion written by another writer on social media network, Instagram which was published on elombah.com.

Reports say Tim’s brother and the publisher of elombah.com, Daniel Elombah who also arrested was released late Monday night, January 1, 2018.
