President Buhari Orders IGP To Reinstate Obiano’s Security Aides

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the reinstatement of the security aides of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State.

This is coming as the Nigerian Senate has also directed the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, to immediately restore Governor Obiano’s Security which were withdrawn on Tuesday‎.

President Buhari on Wednesday at Awka directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations), Joshak Habila to ensure the return of the governor’s security personnel.

While welcoming the President on arrival Wednesday in Awka for the Grand Finale of the All Progressives Congress Governorship Rally, Obiano had complained about the withdrawal of his security aides.

Before departing Awka, President Buhari directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations), Joshak Habila to ensure the return of the governor’s security personnel, Special Adviser to the President, (Media & Publicity), Femi Adesina said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Senate had following a point of order raised by Senator Emmanuel Bwacha‎, Taraba South, who condemned the sudden withdrawal of the security details of the governor, directed the revert of the withdrawal.

‎Senator Bwacha had warned that if action is not taken, the trend will spiral into a phenomenon that would portent danger to Nigeria’s democracy.

‎S‎upporting the Motion, Senator Biodun Olujimi of Ekiti South also condemned the reported withdrawal of the governor’s security aids and called for an immediate reinstatement.

‎In his remarks, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, while sustaining the voice votes in favour of the issue raised, directed its committee on police affairs to ensure compliance and report back to the senate on the next legislative day.

The lawmakers took turns to condemn the police boss for claiming that the security men were withdrawn to allow a level playing field for all contestants in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.‎‎
