Gunmen Kill Ten Including Couple In Port Harcourt

Gunmen invaded Slaughter Market in Mgbuoshimini community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, in the wee hours of Monday killing 10 people including a couple.

The traders had slept over at the market so as to rise up early enough for Monday’s activity when the gunmen stormed and unleashed mayhem on them.

Confirming the development to newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni said the gunmen stormed the market at about 4am and opened fire on traders who were mostly women.

The invading hoodlums were said to have razed building suspected belong to the family of one of their targets.

The incident caused pandemonium and tension in the community as residents scampered for their lives.

Omoni stated that police personnel have been deployed to the area, even as he said the motive for the killing is yet to be unravelled.

He however assured that the force would do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to book.

The killing is coming barely 72 hours after two persons were shot dead in the same community by armed men and the arrest of a suspect by policemen, THEWILL had reported.
