Maritime Varsity: Gbaramatu Chairmen Hail FG Over Approval Of N2bn Takeoff Grant

Coalition of Chairmen of Gbararmatu Communities in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Wednesday applauded the Federal Government for approving a N2billion takeoff grant for the Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko, Delta State.

Recalls that Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo dropped the hint of the approval while declaring open the 2nd Regular Meeting of National Council on Niger Delta in Akure, Ondo State

The university is expected to takeoff by October, he said.

However, Chairmen of Gbararmatu Communities on Wednesday said the announcement was a cheering news to the people of the Kingdom and Niger Delta region in general.

In press statement issued in Warri on Wednesday by the Chairman of Kokodiagbene Community, Comrade Sheriff Mulade on behalf of others, they hailed the Federal Government for giving final nod for the take off the University.

“We want to commend President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the immediate take off of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko in Gbararmatu Kingdom Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

“We equally want to sincerely thank the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo for his doggness and unflinching support to find a lasting solutions to the Niger Delta issues”, the Chairmen said.

The communities leaders however, assured prospective students and general public of adequate security and a conducive learning environment.
