The Osun state Police Command has arrested a suspected Nigerian fraudster, Femi Agbolade who pretended as a woman in an internet dating website to dupe an American male citizen seeking a relationship the sum of 80,000 dollars.

Parading Agbolade among other suspects on Monday, the state Commissioner of Police, Olafimihan Adeoye, said that the suspect pretended to be a woman and was using a female picture to deceive his victim on social media while the alleged fraud lasted.

Adeoye explained that the suspect was arrested after a tip off by a Nigerian, urging other citizens to always release any useful information that could help in ridding the state of criminal activities.

He decried the rate at which young people now engage in internet fraud and noted that it showed that the youths were not ready to work again but only seeking quick means to get rich.

The police boss also explained that because of the increased rate of cultism in the state, the police had organised an anti-cultism special squad, which would work to reduce the rate of cultism.

AIT reports that the suspect while speaking with reporters, denied collecting 80,000 dollars from the victim, claiming, “I only collected 43,000 dollars.”
