Rep Member, Ahwinahwi’s Empowerment Programme A Big Fraud, Says Urhobo Youth Group

Solomon Ahwinahwi
A group, Urhobo Youth Coalition (UYC) has described the empowerment programme of the member Representing Ughelli North/ Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency, Hon. Solomon Ahwinahwi as a big fraud targeted to sway the minds of the people from his poor performance.
National President of the group, Mr. Matthew Agborume, who spoke to newsmen at Ughelli, accused the legislature of being voiceless at the Green Chamber.
Agborume said: “We have observed with dismay what we can now call ‘the Ughelli General Field fraud’ where Hon. Solomon Ahwinawhi claimed to have empower 265 persons with five items, a tricycle, a generator, a sewing machine dryer, a grinding machine and a motorcycle.
“He never made any impact during his first spell in the House, the only impact he made was when he was suspended for fighting. And this is his second spell and he is yet to contribute anything meaningful to the people he claims to represent and as if that was not enough, he wants to add deception to his myriad of failures.
“To let you know that the empowerment was a calculated deception, the total number of persons at the event, they won’t be more than 265 and you and you will agree with me that the place was jam packed with politicians, so you ask yourself, who are the people he is empowering, the politicians or the less privileged?
“He came to show Ughelli people his friend, Senator Dino Melaye, the embattled senator representing kogi West and the at the senate because we don’t know him, (Melaye ) before.
“Aside the five persons that were given those items in the field, no one else has come out to testify to have received anything and on that day, we expected that the other ghost beneficiaries will go to his house to receive the items but to our greatest surprise, he did not even went to his house and up till today nothing has happened.
“Even if you are not disbursing the items there, we should at least
know the beneficiaries and see them and know where they are from and how they were selected. For instance, I am from Agbarah-Otor, a well-known leader in my area, so if anyone receive anything I will know even if you say I may not know of other areas.
“UYC is not out to witch hunt anybody or to gain favor from any politician but to monitor and scrutinize the activities of those who we have elected as our leaders and hold them accountable to the people. We have their records in our archive when the time comes. Maybe when the powers will fall back to us, am talking about election periods.” It shall be opened. Agborume said.
