High Profile Movement To Restructure Nigeria Formed

A pressure group, christened as Restructure And Unite Nigeria, RAUN, has been formed to push for restructuring of Nigeria into autonomous federating units premised on justice, equity, rule of law and respect for all ethnic nationalities.

The group which have a 5-point take-off agenda is coming following the heated national debate over the unity of the country in past one month.

BigPen Online was told that the group, a patriotic national movement have very prominent Nigerians as members and would formally made a public appearance a couple of weeks time.

The group it was gathered would vehemently push for the immediate implementation of the 2014 National Conference Report which many had canvassed as solution to the myriad of problems currently confronting the country.

Moreso, urgent amendment of the 1999 Constitution to make provisions for referendums to address national questions is one major objective of the group, Niger Delta activist and Executive Secretary, United Niger Delta Energy Development Security Strategy, Mr. Tony Uranta said.

Uranta who doubles as Secretary General Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, in a terse message on Friday confirmed that the group is also pushing that governments at all levels (Federal, State & Local) must be made to guarantee Social Services to Nigerians via the amending of Chapter Two of the 1999 Constitution to be justiciable.

RAUN is also insisting that Nigeria must become a Federation of Autonomous Units, where all rights and freedoms of all citizens must be sacrosanct.
