JUST IN: Police Recovers Stolen Ogun House Of Assembly’s Mace In Lagos
The stolen Ogun House of Assembly’s mace has been recovered in Lagos state.
BIGPENNGR.COM understands that policemen recovered the symbol of authority after it was threw into the bush from a moving vehicle.
This medium had reported that the mace was stolen early hours of Thursday morning by hoodlums who reportedly broke into the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo’s office, overnight and stole the official symbol of the legislature.
BIGPENGR.COM had reported that the suspected hoodlums ostensibly defied the security architecture and invaded the assembly complex which is a stone throw from the Government House.
Despite the tighten security around government offices, the suspected hoodlums burgled Ogun State House of Assembly Complex and carted away with the mace.
But the Lagos Police Command, on Friday, says its personnel attached to Trade Fair Station, recovered the missing mace of the Ogun State House of Assembly at Abule Ado Area of the state at about 8.30am.
The police operatives, who were responsive, worked on an intelligence from the members of the community.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, following the intelligence, it was discovered that someone in a moving vehicle, suspected to be Toyota Siena Space Wagon, threw out an object into the nearby bush and recovered the object which was later identified to be the Ogun State House of Assembly Mace.
“It has been handed over to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, who later instructed the DCP State CID, Lagos State, Yetunde Longe, to protect the mace and liaise with the Ogun State Police Command on the return of the recovered mace to Ogun State.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu however promised to assist the Ogun State Police Command in the investigation into the incident that led to the recovery of the mace”, the statement added.
