Mammoth Crowd At APC ‘Congress’ In Delta, As Erue, Others Are Returned Unopposed

There was mammoth crowd at the All Progressive Congress, APC state parallel Congress held in Delta state on Saturday.

The Congress which was held under heavy security presence returned the incumbent state chairman of the party, Prophet Jones Ode- Erue unopposed alongside a few other executive members of his former exco.

The estranged former deputy state chairman, Chief Cyril Ogodo who had pitched tent with the APC leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor was replaced by Hon Elvis Ayomanor.

BigPen Online can report that the Sen. Olugbenga Obadara- led State Congress Committee which was inaugurated by the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on Thursday were on ground to supervised the Congress.

The Obadara- led State Congress Committee alongside INEC officials were at the event and guided out after the Congress ended peacefully.

BigPen Online had exclusively reported earlier that Sen. Olugbenga Obadara- led State Congress Committee sent to conduct the Delta State APC state Congress was withdrawn following allegations by the Emerhor’s camp that the committee had been compromised.

Emerhor, using influence of the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun had tried to blocked Obadara from conducting the Congress but reports say a directives from the presidency had over ruled him.

Senator Omo-Agege/Ogboru faction had secured a directives from the presidency that Obadara- led State Congress should go ahead to Delta state and conduct the Congress.

Chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust  Fund and ex-NUPENG General Secretary, Chief Frank Ovie Kokori and Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari’s Social Media aide, Mrs. Lauretta Onochie led federal delegations to the Congress.

APC governorship aspirants, Chief Great Ogboru, Comrade Sunny Ofehe, Chief Iyke Odikpo and Barr. Felix Morka were among the dignitaries who stormed the Congress with their followers.

Former Delta Speaker, Rt Hon Victor Ochie, Hon Cairo Ojuogboh, Osiobe Okotie, Prof. Pat Utomi, Obire, and Edozien were conspicuously absent from the event.

The Erue/Omo-Agege’s faction of the party reportedly enjoys the backing of the presidency, APC National Leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and former Edo state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who is gunning for the National Chairmanship seat of the party.

Meanwhile, Emerhor bloc of the party which has the backing of national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi had fixed Monday for it’s own version of the Congress.

A fresh letter from the National Secretary of APC, Hon Mai Mala Buni dated 18 May, 2018 show a new State Congress Committee headed by Mr. Eugene Odoh have been constituted to conduct the rescheduled state Congress of the Emerhor faction.

The letter with reference No: APC/NHDQ/INEC/19/018/22 dated 18th May 2018 was written to introduced members of the committee to INEC.
