JUST IN: Delta APC Sets For Parallel State Congress As Emerhor, Erue, Blocs Fail To Harmonise

Members of All Progressive Congress, APC in Delta state are now set for parallel state Congress as the leaders and gladiators squabbling for the control of the structure of the party failed to harmonised their difference, BigPen Online can report.

While one faction has shifted the Congress to Monday 21st, another faction is set for it this Saturday, May 19, 2019.

Recalls that APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun had reportedly withdrawn the Sen. Olugbenga Obadara- led State Congress Committee sent to conduct the Delta State APC state Congress this Saturday just while the committee members were about boarding a flight to Asaba, the Delta state capital.

The reported withdrawal was attributed to Delta APC leader, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor who was said to have influence the immediate change of the Obadara- led State Congress Committee and subsequent postponement.

However, a faction of the party loyal to outgoing state chairman, Prophet Jones Erue who is seeking reelection may go ahead with the state Congress, thus there is tendencies that two separate Congress would be held in the state.

Earlier reports, however say both Erue and Emerhor had confirmed the postponement of the Congress on Friday following discrepancy in the delegate list for the state Congress.

Erue, however on Saturday morning maintained silent when one of our correspondent called him about the purported postponement which sources said may as well be a hoax.

The source disclosed that senator Omo-Agege/Ogboru faction had secured a directives from the presidency that Obadara- led State Congress should go ahead to Delta state and conduct the Congress.

BigPen Online often dependable sources revealed that Emerhor was sighted at the APC Secretariat in Abuja where he reportedly held a closed-door meeting with Oyegun with the view of pushing for the postponement of the Saturday (today) Congress.

The source said it was not clear if Emerhor was able to secure the postponement of the Congress as almost all party officials, particularly the NWC which ought to sign and endorse the postponement had left Abuja for their respective States for the Congresses.

“If you remember APC National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso who inaugurated the committees on behalf of the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun had warned against unilateral postponement of Sate Congresses without approval by the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

“The Emerhor bloc came to the Secretariat yesterday (Friday) and he meet with Oga (Oyegun) trying to lobby the suppose postponement but I don’t think he scale through, the source added.

But a letter from the National Secretary of APC, Hon Mai Mala Buni dated 18 May, 2018 which surfaced last night and addressed to INEC chairman, confirmed that the Congress has been rescheduled but failed to give reasons.

The letter entitled; “Re: Notice of Conduct of Congresses”, read: We refer to our letter reference No: APC/NHDQ/INEC/19/018/12 dated 27th April 2018 in respect to above-mentioned subject and wish to advise that we have rescheduled the conduct of our State Congresses in Delta state to Monday 21st May, 2018″.

Meanwhile, dependable sources at the National headquarters of the party told BigPen Online on Saturday morning that the crisis rocking the Delta state chapter of the party would be resolved and harmonised by the National Working Committee of the party at the national level at the appropriate time.
