‎Democracy Day: Criticise Me, But Never Lose Faith in Nigeria — Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain optimistic and committed to the country’s future despite prevailing challenges, stressing that while citizens have the right to criticise his administration, they should never lose faith in Nigeria.

‎Speaking during his Democracy Day nationwide broadcast on Friday, the President urged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to see the country as a land of opportunity and actively contribute to its development rather than seeking greener pastures abroad.

‎“ To Our Young Ones, Nigeria is your home and your future. Build here, code here, work here, and vote here. Every great nation was built by those who stayed to solve problems, not by those who abandoned ship,” Tinubu said.

‎The President emphasized the importance of collective nation-building and encouraged young people to channel their talents, innovation, and energy into strengthening the country’s economy and democratic institutions.

‎Tinubu also charged key democratic institutions, including the National Assembly, the Judiciary, the media, and civil society organisations, to continue playing their constitutional roles as defenders of democracy and accountability.

‎“To our National Assembly, Judiciary, the Press, and civil society, you are the guardrails of our republic. Criticise me, disagree with me, but never stop believing in Nigeria,” he stated.

‎The President further commended members of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, intelligence agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders for their contributions to peace, security, and national cohesion.

‎According to Tinubu, the greatest way to honour the heroes who fought for Nigeria’s democracy is to build a nation where freedom is protected, justice is upheld, opportunities are expanded, and government remains accountable to the people.
