‘He Was No Argument Man’—Isoko South Chairman Pays Glowing Tribute to Departed Predecessor, Victor Asasa
The chairman of the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri Ovoke on Saturday eulogized the immediate past chairman of the council, late Victor Asasa, describing him as a “no argument man.”
Warri, who stated this during a valedictory session at the council Secretariat in Oleh, prior to the final journey of the late Asasa’s corpse to Aviara, his hometown in the Isoko South, described the immediate past council chairman as a soft-spoken personality, even in politics and business.
“It is with heavy hearts that I welcome you to this valedictory session in honour of my predecessor, the late Hon. Victor Eneruvie, former Chairman of the Isoko South Local Government Area from 2019 to 2021. Today we are gathered to celebrate a man whose accomplishments are truly remarkable and whose legacy will be remembered for generations to come. He made outstanding contributions to the human, capital, and socio-economic development of Isoko South, maximizing the available resources at his disposal.
“Hon. Victor Asasa was a man who did not engage in unnecessary arguments. He was a soft-spoken individual, even within the realms of politics and business. Our esteemed brother, friend, political associate, and relation was a man of impeccable character, worthy of emulation. Those who were closely acquainted with him can attest to this fact. A man’s lifetime is marked by periods of growth, adversity, setbacks, ascension, and decline. One’s swiftness is not judged by the speed at which one progresses, but rather by the quality of one’s accomplishments as perceived by our councilor.
“Hon. Asasa lived a fulfilling life, and this is the way anyone can attain eternity; this is the hope for eternity, where we shall meet to part no more. This ceremony marks the beginning of your spiritual journey in prayer to your creator. It is my fervent prayer that upon reaching your heavenly home, the angels in heaven will receive you into the arms of the Almighty. “Goodnight,” Warri concluded in an emotional voice
On arrival of the corpse of the late Asasa at the council secretariat, Oleh, past chairmen and vice chairmen of Isoko South council, Iduh Amadhe, Mike Igbuku, Joe Iroro, Askia Bashrun, Itiako Ikpokpo, Benjamin Efekodo, Mike Okah, Uyoyou Edhekpo and Christian Iteire, immediate past chairman of Isoko North and former colleague of the late Asasa were seen in a single file going round the corpse as a sign of last respect to the deceased.
Also present during the file session round the corpse were the family members of the Asasa including other prominent figures like Denial Omoyibo, Powell Tos, Victor (Chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC Isoko South), James Obeuwou, Mike Ogwah, Lucky Okperi, the Legislative Arms of Isoko South led by Friday Olokor, and the management of Isoko South led by Mrs. Mary Ofogbor among others.
