UPDATED: How EFCC Operative Slumped, Found Dead On Lagos Street

Security operatives are battling to unravel the circumstances surrounding the reported death of an operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) found dead on a Lagos street on Monday, January 27, 2025.

The cause of his death was unclear as at the time of this report, according to report in News Express but security sources said the police has been intimated of the incident.

The report said that a viral video shows concerned residents gathering around the lifeless body of the anti-graft agent identified as Sylvanus, examining his personal belongings in an attempt to know how to contact either his employers or relatives.

There was no immediate reaction to the incident by the EFCC.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that the incident is coming barely few weeks after shooters suspected to ‘Yahoo Boys’, ‘suspected online scammers’, opened fire on EFCC officials in Anambra State, killing one official and seriously wounding another.

Meanwhile, PRNigeria is reporting on Tuesday morning that the officer tragically passed away on Sunday after collapsing on a street in Lagos State.

According to the report, the officer, identified as Remedy S. Yange, reportedly slumped abruptly while on leave from work to spend time with his family, who is staying in Lagos.

“Until his death, PRNigeria learned that Yange was working at the Benue Office of the anti-graft body.

“PRNigeria also gathered that Yange was an outstanding EFCC operative known for his involvement in the investigation and prosecution of fraudulent cases in Nigerian courts.

When contacted, the EFCC spokesperson, Mr. Dele Oyewale, confirmed the incident, adding that an investigation is underway to unravel the circumstances behind their late officer’s demise”, the report reads.
