Engr. Goodnews Agbi, the Delta State Governor’s Special Advisor on Project Monitoring/Audit, has called on the contractors handling the Irri Technical College and the incomplete Oleh Campus Engineering Faculty buildings to return to work and finish their projects.

He spoke during an inspection tour of the halted projects at Irri and Oleh in the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Agbi expressed his concern over the contractors’ absence at the projects site, stressing the importance of the Irri Technical College project for the youth of the community and urged for any issues preventing the project completion to be swiftly resolved.

Agbi emphasized that the projects are crucial for the community and the neighbouring areas.

He also mentioned that the state governor, Rt.Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the driving force behind the MORE AGENDA, would be disappointed to see these projects in a state of disrepair.

Regarding the Engineering Faculty at Oleh, Agbi noted that the lecture theatre, designed to accommodate two thousand students, is about 80% complete, with only the theatre seats remaining to be installed.

He called on the contractors to complete the work, receive their payment, and hand over the facility to the university.

He stressed the importance of the labs and workshops for the engineering students to gain practical knowledge in their fields.

Agbi requested that the contractors work with the awarding ministry to determine how to complete the projects. He pointed out that similar projects at Effurun, Ubiaruku, and Asaba Technical Colleges have been completed and are already serving students.

Prof. Elo Ibagere, the Provost of Delta State University Oleh Campus, urged the Delta State Government to assist in completing the Engineering Faculty buildings that have been entirely abandoned.

He warned that the longer the buildings remain in their current state, the more they will deteriorate, and the more funds will be required to finish them.

He further emphasized the need to complete the buildings swiftly to maintain the reputation of the Faculty of Engineering.
