Sixteen youths have been arrested by the Police Command in Delta State, in connection to Tuesday’s violent protest by irate youths against the EFCC’S (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) arrest of internet fraudsters popularly known as “yahoo boys” in Ughelli council area.

According to www.bigpengnr.com, some youths went on the rampage at the Otowodo intersection of the East West Road in Ughelli on Tuesday to protest what they claimed to be harassment by anti-graft agency.

Twelve heavy duty trucks, including those carrying petroleum products and stuck in a traffic jam during the widespread protest, were reportedly set on fire by irate protesters.

But while one victim died from the gunshot, the others suffered varying degrees of injuries, a development that was said to have precipitated the uncalled for violence and mayhem.

After assessing the damage in person, State Commissioner of Police Mr. Ari Mohammed Ali informed the journalists that 16 people were being held by the police in connection to the mayhem. Mr. Ali had visited the scene on Wednesday.
