Late Sam Obi Was An Endearing Soul – Uduaghan

Immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has eulogized the late former Speaker and onetime acting governor of the state, Prince Sam Obi, describing him as an endearing soul.
Uduaghan, in a statement by his Monoyo Edon, his Media Assistant, said that he received the news of the passage of the former Speaker and Acting Governor as a rude shock.
Obi who first became a member of the Delta State House of Assembly in 2007 passed away on Saturday 3rd of April, 2021.

According to the statement, as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Sam Obi stepped onto the saddle of the state in 2010 as Acting Governor following the Court of Appeal nullification of the gubernatorial election of 2007 which ushered in Dr. Uduaghan as Governor.
He said that Obi midwifed the rerun election which was ordered in 2011 and ensured a smooth transition of power after the PDP retained the governorship seat.
“Hon. Obi was an endearing soul. After I won the rerun election, he didn’t hesitate to handover to me and ensured a smooth process.”
“I received the news yesterday (Saturday) with a lot of grief because he was active a few days ago. It is well. Our prayers are with the family.”
In the last years of his life, Rt. Hon. Sam Obi became a pastor and was the founder of Oracle of God Ministries in Asaba, the state capital.
“May God grant his family and the entire Delta State, the Grace to go through this difficult times. May his soul rest in perfect peace”, the former governor wrote.
