A mansion of former President Goodluck Jonathan in Otuoke community, Bayelsa state has been burgled, BIGPEN Online can report.Unfortunately, the house was burgled by relatives of the wife of the former president who decided to steal from their in-law by criminal means.Items allegedly stolen from the mansion includes jewelries, custom made walking sticks and other valuables worth over N300 million naira. It was gathered that one of suspect who has since been arrested is a management staff of the Aridolf Resort, Hotel and Spa owned by the former first lady. The suspect, according to a reliable police source who preferred anonymity cunningly duplicated the keys to Jonathan’s rooms where the stolen item were kept.Sources revealed that some substantial huge sum of money was seen and stolen from the mansion by the invaders.BIGPEN Online reliably gathered that the suspects had systematically looted valuables from the mansion overtime before they were caught by some domestic staff of the former President few days ago.Investigation revealed that after confirming the theft, the domestic staff contacted men of the Bayelsa Police Command to effect the arrest and recovery of the looted items.Operatives of the ‘Operation Puff Adder’ of the Bayelsa State Police Command thus arrested four in-laws to the former President in connection to the alleged theft.Police source disclosed that the four persons were arrested over their involvement in the illegal entry into Jonathan’s home in Otuoke community, Ogbia local Government area. The source said that the four persons, include two brothers to the former first Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, and two ladies suspected to be members of the family. The arrested suspects were identified as Mowsor Princewill Oba and Boma Rasheed Oba while the other two female suspects are yet to be identified.Repeated calls to Asinim Butswat, the spokesman of the Bayelsa state command mobile phone were rebuffed as of press time but a top police officer confirmed the story and arrest made so far.The Police source who craved anonymity said the arrested suspects have made confessional statements and have shown signs of remorse and regret over their actions. He said, “They are already making useful confession to the police and some monies from the proceeds are being recovered.’“These are relatives that were entrusted with the house but betrayed the trust and looted the home”, the police source said.BIGPEN Online recalls that an Abuja home of former President Goodluck Jonathan was also burgled some time July, 2017 allegedly by police officers assigned to guard the house.
