Lagos Govt Denies Its Threatened To Fine Churches N.5m Over Crossover Service
The Lagos State Government has denied reports that its threatened to fine churches who violate curfew N500,000 over crossover services.
Multiple media reports credited to Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, claimed that the state government in an interview with The PUNCH noted that the most important thing is for residents of the state to take responsibility during the period.
“If you flout any of these rules, you can be fined. You will be taken to court and the magistrate will decide on the sanction. The fine can be between N20,000 and N500,000. It depends on the magistrate’s discretion,” Omotoso was quoted as saying.
“The Sanwo-Olu administration has maintained a harmonious relationship with religious organisations and has confidence in the ability of their leaders to ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols amid the clamour for crossover services. Compliments of the Season”.
