The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected cultists, armed robbers and kidnappers in separate operations in Agbarho and Oghara, recovering six firearms, four live cartridges and ten expended cartridges.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on Friday.

According to the statement, on November 4, 2026, operatives of the Command Anti-Cultism Unit (CACU), Sector 3, Ovwian-Aladja, while on patrol along the Agbarho–Warri Expressway, arrested Akpoghene Goodluck, 34, who attempted to evade them.

A search of the premises where he was apprehended led to the recovery of two locally fabricated guns and ten expended cartridges.

The police image maker said that further investigation led to the arrest of Solomon Arhugberume James, 50, from whose residence one pump-action gun and one live cartridge were recovered.

He said that both suspects claimed to be members of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security outfit but could not produce any identification to substantiate their claims.

Edafe disclosed that during preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted ownership of the weapons and membership of the Eiye confraternity.

CP Erale warned against cultism and unlawful possession of firearms, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to sustained operations against criminal groups. He urged residents to provide credible information with assurances of confidentiality.
