2027: Okowa Appoints Ifeajika, Chiazor To Lead Media Team For Delta North Senate Race
Former Delta State governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has moved to strengthen his media machinery for the 2027 Delta North Senatorial race, appointing two trusted media hands to lead the campaign’s communications.
In a statement signed by the Director-General of Okowa’s campaign organisation, Hon. Pascal Adigwe, and obtained by newsmen in Asaba, on Friday, Okowa named veteran journalist Mr. Olisa Ifeajika as Director, Media and Communications, while Dr. Norbert Chiazor was appointed as Assistant Director, Media and Communications of the Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa Senatorial Campaign Council.
Ifeajika and Chiazor are not new to the Okowa brand. Both served at the heart of his administration as governor and understand his record, his style and his political message.
Ifeajika, a former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and a consummate journalist, was Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okowa from 2019 to 2023. A member of the Nigeria Guild of Editors, he brings over three decades of professional practice and media management to the campaign.
Chiazor, a former chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, served as Executive Assistant on Media in the Okowa administration. With a PhD in Mass Communication and over 30 years in broadcast, print and online journalism, he is expected to drive advocacy and grassroots communications.
According to the statement, the duo will coordinate all media activities of the council, including communication strategy, reputational management, advocacy and media relations.
Political observers see the appointments as a strategic move by Okowa to deploy experience, credibility and deep institutional knowledge as momentum builds for the 2027 contest.
